Goodwin Acres is home to two girls right now... Abbie and Sugar. Etta is one of ours even though she has left the nest, we look forward to working with Linda and David to include Etta in our Breeding Program.  Sugar is our splendid foundation bitch, while Etta  is our first generation. With Archie & Sugar as a foundation and Andy & Etta as a strong start, Goodwin Terriers is building a strong healthy bloodline.

Pedigree indicates what the animal should be.
Conformation indicates what the animal appears to be.
But performance indicates what the animal actually is.

Sugar came to us through kindness and generosity of Carol and Chris Cheney at Flintlock Farm. We took Sugs to Montco (2005) so Joe could show more than Archie. She placed nicely all four days of the cluster despite the rain, mud and noise. Rebecca and Joe became quite enamoured of her, from a temperament and conformational perspective. Carol and Chris were kind enough to let us welcome her to our home rather than return her up north. Carol does't allow unsupervised visits of Sugar's Littermate, Ch Flintlock's Sassy Molassy.

At the National Specialty show in Montgomery Terrier Trials in 2002, Sugar's dame, Ch Maple Run's Wind Song CD RN ME VD “Wynnie”, had a first place class win. Wynnie has also earned several award from the PRTAA for versatility, including the following:
  • PRTAA High Scoring Obedience Dog for 2003
  • PRTAA Versatile Dog Award for 2003
  • PRTAA Versatile Dog Award for 2004
Sugar's pedigree includes Parson Dragonfly and Pengelli Bullet.
Besides placing nicely at Nationals in 2005, Sugar finished her Champion title with four majors. She took Best of Breed at St Paul 2006 beating out the special for the award. Its worth noting that Archie was not offended by the defeat, heck he got bison liver anyway. Sugar came to us after having earned her Junior Earthdog title and a Maple Apple at the Greater Twin Cities Sumac Cairn Terrier Club in September 2005. She went on to earn her Senior Earthdog Title at Roscoe in June 2006. She is a stellar hunter, and a Tennis Ball Fiend. We see flyball in her future.

Sugar has tested clear of problems in both hearing (Baer) and patellas (OFA). She has also tested clear three straight years on her CERF Tests. Her eyes will continue to be tested for the foreseeable future, to be certain she continues to enjoy clear eyesight.
In 2007 Sugar delivered litter of five pups sired by Ch Blackbriar Archie Goodwin ME VDA. They have all found splendid new homes. They are growing up nicely. Her daughter Etta, has been very successful in the show ring.  her accomplishments include a group placement and being awarded Best of Opposite at the 2008 PRTAA National Specialty by Breeder/Judge Paul Ross. Andy has earned his championship and an earthdog title

More recently Sugar delivered a litter of four pups sired by BIS CH Posey Canyon Eyes of Storm SE BROMO. Three of them are showing in the conformation ring.  Henry took a splendid 4 point major at the St Paul show in January 2010 and Millie took a 4 point major at Louisville in March 2010.  We are looking forward to their exploits in the next few years.

PostHeaderIcon Etta Boogies at MontCo

Thanks to David and Linda's patience in driving from Tennessee to Philadelphia, Etta was exhibited at Montgomery County Kennel Club (the PRTAA National Specialty), this year. Naturally David and Linda had to show their BBE Norfolk Terrier. Due to that conflict we hired a handler to help with Etta. Karan Aurelius, who showed Ch Windrush Notorious (Etta's grandsire's littermate) with great success, was kind enough to step in and show Etta, again with great sucess.
Karan did a wonderful job. Etta's splendid features caught the eye of Judge Paul Ross (of Blencathra fame). Perhaps Etta's great great grandfather, Blencathra Badger, passed down genes that singled her out.  Mr Ross awarded Etta Best of Opposite Sex, a stellar win for a 17 month old pup.
With enormous gratitude, Goodwin Terriers offers our thanks to Mr Ross for his recognition of Etta at MontCo.
Rebecca and I only created the building blocks (out of blocks given to us by Pat and Carol), David and Linda made Etta into the winner last weekend. Excellent Grooming, impeccable training and lots of Love.
Becca and I are exceedingly proud of Etta. We owe it all to David and Linda!!! Thanks Guys...

Etta has had an excellent run down south.  In June 2008, She earned a Second in the Terrier Group at the Paducah Kennel Club!  We are extremely proud and thrilled.  We are extremely proud and appreciative of Dr Greathouse's splendid appraisal of Goodwin's Boogie Woogie Baby.

Rebecca and I greatly appreciate the excellent grooming, splendid handling and giving our wee girl a wonderful home.  Its due to the handling, grooming and loving home that Etta became the first Goodwin bred Champion as well as the first Goodwin Group Placement.

Ch Goodwin's Boogie Woogie Baby ( Ch Blackbriar Archie Goodwin ME VDA x Ch Flintlock's Sugar Baby SE VDA)

Etta is co-owned by David and Linda Dinger and Rebecca and I. David and Linda show and occasionally breed Norfolk Terriers. They decided to try another breed and fell in love with Etta. Etta is looking forward to a life of Show, Obedience, Agility and Earthdog.

Etta has had a splendid run down south. In March 2008, Etta took back to back majors at Maury County Kennel Club. Naturally, Linda, David, Rebecca and I were extremely proud.

Etta became the first Goodwin Terrier to receive a group placement at Paducah, KY. We are extremely appreciative of Dr Greathouse's appraisal of Goodwin's Boogie Woogie Baby.

Etta earned her Championship in June 2008 at the Crab Orchard KC. Our first home bred champion!!! Thanks a bunch to Linda and David for the excellent grooming, splendid handling and giving our wee girl a wonderful home.

Ch Goodwin's Boogie Woogie Baby showed her wee heart out and caught Judge Paul Ross' eye at Montgomery County Kennel Club (the PRTAA National Specialty). Mr Ross awarded Etta Best of Opposite Sex, a stellar win for a 17 month old pup.

Again, David and Linda's excellent care, attention and love shown through and showcased our wonderful wee girl. Thanks a Bunch!!!

Etta is headed for the agility, obedience and even earthdog arenas. We can't wait to see what else Linda, David and Etta can achieve.

Abbie was our first PRT. Abbie has many nicknames, perhaps the most descriptive one is the Queen, The Queen of Everyting. Though Abbie's Breeder, Lee Sweitzer has passed, a day doesn't go by when I don't silently thank Lee for Abbie. She is a brillant dog. We've often comment that it was a good thing that she was spayed because her offspring could have conquered the world.

Abbie is a splendidly trained pookie. Despite a third place at the Specialty in Hatboro in 2002 we opted to spay Abbie. She hated the showring. Instead of excelling in the show ring Abbie excels at manipulating humans. She has trained humans from very young ages all the way to eighty year olds. All her humans have one primary function, bringing Abbie tribute, either in the form or affection or treats.

Abbie earned her Junior Earthdog title and a Maple Apple at the Greater Twin Cities Sumac Cairn Terrier Club in September 2005. She went on to earn her Senior Earthdog Title at Roscoe in June 2006. She is a stellar hunter, much to the dismay of wildlife in our woods. I am certain rabbit mothers tell stories of Abbie to keep their baby bunnies in line.

Millie is a silly, yet elegant wee gal. She was awarded Best of Opposite (4 point major) at Louisville in March of 2010.  She is off to a splendid start.

Millie is a fantastic Parson.  She shadows her people and loves being with us.  In the Spring we are off to Camp Flintlock to train Millie for earthdog.
