Goodwin Acres is home to two boys right now... Archie and Andy. Archie is our foundation Stud, while Andy is our first generation. With Archie & Sugar as a foundation and Andy & Etta as a strong start, Goodwin Terriers is building a strong healthy bloodline.

Pedigree indicates what the animal should be.
Conformation indicates what the animal appears to be.
But performance indicates what the animal actually is.

PostHeaderIcon Ch Blackbriar Archie Goodwin ME VDA

Archie is our oldest adult male PRT. Pat Wilcox of Blackbriar Terriers sent him to live with us. Archie's pedigree carries Imus of Willowall in both his maternal and paternal lines. His Grandsire is CH Blackbriar Watch Me “PJ”. PJ was the #1 JRT in 2000 going BoS at both Westminster and the Eukanuba Classic. In 2001 he was the #1 breed dog, finishing his career with BoB at the National Specialty. Archie is rather tightly linebred from Pat's lines. Archie has sired a litter of five pups with our bitch, Ch Flintlock's Sugar Baby SE. They are growing up nicely. His daughter Etta, has been very successful in the show ring.  her accomplishments include a group placement and being awarded Best of Opposite at the 2008 PRTAA National Specialty by Breeder/Judge Paul Ross. Andy has earned his championship and an earthdog title.
Archie earned his Champion Title at St. Paul in 2005. Being our first show dog we were rather proud that he earned is title in eleven months. We know this isn't an earth shattering timeframe, but Archie was handicapped with an incredibly novice groomer and handler. He finished with Three Majors. Archie has since taken Award of Merit at the International Kennel Club (Chicago – 2006) and Best Working Terrier at the International Kennel Club (Chicago – 2006). Archie has also earned his Junior Earthdog title in three attempts. This earned him a Maple Apple at the Greater Twin Cities Sumac Cairn Terrier Club in September 2005. Archie followed this up by earning his Senior Earthdog in March of 2006 at the Dachshund Club of America in Des Moines. In 2008 Archie earned his last three legs and his Master Earthdog title.
Archie has tested clear of problems in both hearing (Baer) and patellas (OFA). He has also tested clear Four straight years on his CERF Tests. His eyes will continue to be tested for the foreseeable future, to be certain he continues to enjoy clear eyesight.

Andy is our first Bred By Champion. We have great plans for the Bugle Boy. Thus far he has done rather spectacularly.  It was a blast showing Andy to his Championship at Lake Elmo, becoming the third Goodwin Terrier to finish his title in the Twin Cities.. We are grateful the judge's have seen the same spark we see.

Andy will continue in the Earthdog tunnels this fall and next spring.  We'll see if Andy can follow his parents to further titles in Earthdog.

PostHeaderIcon Balancing the Bugle Boy!!!

One of the proverbs we strive to follow with our PRTs is "A well balanced dog has a title on both ends." Its on a bumper sticker of our Honda Element. In August Andy (Ch Goodwin's Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy JE) earned his balancing titles. On 23 August 2008 at St Croix Valley Kennel Club Dog Show at Lake Elmo, Judge Esterkin gave Andy a three point major and the points he needed to earn his Championship.

Then after a spendid trip to Flintlock Farm, where Andy proved even lovers can hunt,  Andy earned two legs in Junior Earthdog tunnels at Roscoe, Il.  And those two legs Balanced the Bugle Boy!  Andy is now Ch Goodwin's Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy JE!

Way to Go, Andy!!!

PostHeaderIcon Having Fun with the Bugle Boy...

We're having a Blast showing the Bugle Boy. While he has decided that reserve ribbons are very pretty, (a trait he got from his father) Andy is half way to his title.
Since Skokie, in Decembet 2007, Andy took the points at IKC in Chicago, Febuary 2008. Andy got his biggest kudos from the adoring crowd at the GLPRTC Meet the Breed Booth. Four days straight with five hours a day meeting the folks and handling out kisses.
Then our trip out to Mass, yielded Andy's first Major in April 2008. We enjoyed our trip and seeing more dogs. It was great to see our pals out east.

Our wee guy also took a point at Kettle Moraine KC, in June 2008. It appears that Andy like to alternate months when getting his points. That way he gets to go to more shows.
